After a day to digest, here are my Eagles- Cowboys thoughts. I’m going to go rapid fire my top 10 thoughts that I had during and after Sunday night’s catastrophe.
- Darren Sproles would’ve converted the 3rd down on the Eagles second to last drive. Vander Esch made a fantastic play to tackle Clement on the screen. However, I can’t help but think that if Sproles played he would’ve made him miss and got the first down.
- The Eagles secondary is Malcom Jenkins and a bunch of misfits. With Darby out for the year, the secondary is even thinner. I shudder to think what Drew Brees and Co. will do to that secondary Sunday.
- So much for the Eagles vaunted run defense. I could’ve ran through that defense Sunday night. It was the first time in months Zeke saw that much open field.
- Wentz needs to stop with the turnovers on our own side of the field. He’s gotten into a habit of doing that this season. Your own side of the field is where you need to protect the ball the most!
- This game all but ends the Eagles season. I say that even with two games left versus the Redskins. The Eagles would have to go 5-1 in the division. I don’t see them sweeping the division from here on out.
- They would have to run the table vs the division because there is no chance in hell they go into Nola or LA and beat the Saints and Rams. The Texans at home in December is a tossup but I wouldn’t bet on the Eagles in that one either.
- When you’re at the opposing teams 20-yard line and it’s 4th down, take the points! If Doug didn’t coach the Eagles to the super bowl last season, he would be half-way out the door with decisions like that. Enough with going for it on 4th down all the time!!
- Speaking of poor coaching decisions, he challenged a yard. He won the challenge, but to what avail? He did the same thing against the Packers two years ago on Monday night.
- Where was Golden Tate? The Eagles gave up a third-round pick to get him and he was hardly a factor Sunday night. I get he’s new and needs time to learn the playbook, but what was he doing during the bye week? They should’ve found ways to get him more involved in the offense.
I would also like to know where has Dallas Goedart been? The Eagles traded up to take this guy in the 2nd round and he has yet to become a consistent force in this offense. The guy balls out every time he’s given a chance. You have two very talented tight ends. It’s the coaches’ job to find a way to utilize them both correctly.
