After a 2-3 start, it’s really now or never for this Eagles team. It becomes increasingly evident as I watch that they’re a shell of the team they were last year. What makes it even more painful, it’s a lot of the same players. It bothers all of us because we know that this team is capable of so much more than what they are showing.
Last year’s Eagles team always found a way to pull out wins and never beat themselves. The 2018 Eagles have found ways to beat themselves two weeks in a row! They’ve used a combination of turnovers and untimely penalties to fall to this 2-3 start. We’ve seen Wentz not look quite like the quarterback we saw last season. Not that he has been bad, but he looks closer to the 2016 version. It may be true, but it’s not all on Wentz and it’s a lot to put on a guy 10 months removed from ACL surgery.
Yesterday, you really saw what this season has been about. The Wentz fumble that was taken back for a touchdown, the penalties and Doug Peterson with the bad challenge. It was the season in a nutshell. The buttons Doug pushed last season haven’t been working well this year. If the Eagles want to turn things around, it’s now or never. They go into New York Thursday to play a desperate Giants team. That will tell you all you need to know about the 2018 Eagles and where they are heading.
